What Is A Republican Democrat, Anyway?!

Several people have asked me why I am listed as both a Republican and Democrat in the voter pamphlet.

First off, I am a registered Republican. All 550 of my signs spread throughout the district say 'Conservative Republican'. I ran on the Republican ticket in the primary, and will caucus with the Republican party when elected.

In the primary election no Democrat filed for HD17. Many registered Democrat voters wrote in my name as their preferred candidate, enough that the Secretary of State awarded me the nomination, which I accepted. I was humbled that so many Democrats would go out of their way to nominate a Republican they trust to represent them. They know where I stand, and that I am passionate about serving the people of this district. And, they know I am open to conversations with everyone regardless of party. I will listen and learn!
