As your Governor, I will fight to make Oregon the best state in which to live, work, raise a family, and retire with dignity, surrounded by family, children, and grandchildren who will not have to leave the state to find a good job.
Ed Diehl — Candidate for Governor
Building the Best Oregon to Live, Work, and Retire
Oregon should be a state where families thrive, businesses grow, children succeed, and seniors can retire with dignity. Ed Diehl is running to restore balance, accountability, and common sense to state government.
Oregon families are already stretched thin: higher groceries, higher gas, higher housing. Salem's answer has always been the same: more taxes. Ed Diehl will draw a line in the sand.
He will oppose any new tax increases, including a statewide sales tax. He will fight back against massive multi-billion-dollar tax hikes. He will cut state spending by 10 percent to restore discipline and eliminate bloated bureaucracy.
His goal: reduce taxes and fees by 10 percent and put real money back in your pocket.
He will eliminate the death tax so family farms and small businesses can stay in the family, not be sold off to pay the government. And he will freeze property taxes for seniors so they can stay in the homes they worked their entire lives to afford.
Public safety is not political. It's basic. And right now, too many Oregonians don't feel safe in their homes, their neighborhoods, or on their streets.
Failed policies have weakened law enforcement, reduced accountability, and allowed open drug use and public disorder to become normalized. Ed Diehl will restore law and order. He will support police officers and ensure they have the tools and backing they need to protect our communities.
Homelessness must be addressed with compassion, but compassion does not mean chaos. Ed will expand access to treatment and services while ending public camping that has taken over parks, sidewalks, and neighborhoods.
Every child deserves to grow up safe. As a father and grandfather, Ed Diehl takes this personally. But Oregon has one of the highest rates of registered sex offenders per capita in the country, and human trafficking continues to affect communities across our state.
Child exploitation doesn't happen in isolation. It happens when systems fail. Inconsistent enforcement, poor coordination between agencies, limited support for survivors, and a fast-growing online threat have left too many parents to face this alone.
As Governor, Ed will deliver stronger enforcement, real consequences for predators, coordinated statewide action against trafficking networks, and the trauma-informed support survivors deserve. Protecting children from abuse and exploitation is one of the most basic duties of a functioning society.
Read the Full Pledge →Oregon spends billions on education, yet ranks near the bottom nationally in reading and math. That is unacceptable. Our children get one shot at an education. We cannot afford to keep failing them.
Ed Diehl will refocus schools on academics: reading, writing, math, science. He will empower parents with more transparency and involvement. He will demand accountability so schools are measured by results, not excuses.
Education funding must deliver real, measurable results for students. The status quo, where billions flow in and outcomes keep declining, is not acceptable. Oregon kids deserve better, and under Ed Diehl they will get it.
Oregon should be a magnet for opportunity, not a cautionary tale. Small businesses are drowning in regulations. Families struggle to find good-paying jobs. Young people are leaving. That ends under Ed Diehl.
Ed Diehl will cut unnecessary red tape, promote free enterprise, and make Oregon competitive again. His goal is to help create 25,000 new private-sector jobs, real jobs in real communities.
He will also responsibly manage Oregon's timber, agriculture, and natural resources to create jobs while protecting our environment. We can grow our economy without sacrificing our values. A strong Oregon economy means the next generation chooses to stay and build their lives here.
Oregon agriculture is one of the most productive industries in the world, but a decade of shifting rules, regulatory overreach, and ignored local expertise has driven away investment and put farmers at risk. Local farmers, ranchers, and water districts have already built the solutions to the region's toughest challenges. They need a state government that will get out of the way and back them up.
Oregon is also overdue for a real, region-by-region water strategy. The challenges in the Columbia Basin are not the challenges in the Willamette Valley or the Klamath, and one-size-fits-all rules from Salem have failed all of them.
Ed Diehl is committed to building detailed, region-specific water and agricultural policy with the people who live and work the land. The first of those, the Umatilla / Mid-Columbia pledge, is published below. More are on the way.
In-Depth Policy by Region
Oregon's water and agricultural needs vary by region. Each pledge is built with local farmers, ranchers, and water districts to reflect the real conditions and real solutions for that area.
Tina Kotek's allies are pushing a radical measure to ban hunting, fishing, and animal use in Oregon. Initiative Petition 28 is a direct attack on everyone who hunts, fishes, farms, drinks milk, or eats meat. If it passes, it will criminalize hunting and fishing, shut down common farms, and put outside extremists in control of how Oregonians live and what they eat.
This is real. And it must be stopped.
Ed Diehl will protect Oregonians' right to hunt, fish, and farm without government interference, defend rural communities against policies that threaten their livelihoods, and ensure wildlife policy is driven by science and conservation, not political agendas.
Read the Full Pledge →Trust in elections is the foundation of a self-governing state. Oregon has drifted away from the basic principle that elections must be secure, lawful, and transparent. From inaccurate voter rolls and weak maintenance standards to automatic registration errors that put non-citizens on the rolls, the weaknesses are real and Oregonians deserve to know about them.
Ed Diehl supports voter ID, proof of citizenship to register, cleaning up the rolls, ending Motor Voter, and strict limits on ballot harvesting. He also supports full public visibility into chain-of-custody, signature verification, audit findings, and enforcement, because sunlight builds trust, and sunlight builds the case for reform.
On vote-by-mail, Ed takes a practical approach. He personally values in-person voting, but he is realistic about where Oregon voters are today. The smarter path is to secure the system first, expose its flaws, and build durable reforms, rather than losing a statewide fight that hardens opposition to election integrity.
Read the Full Pledge →Trust in state government is near historic lows, and for good reason. Oregonians deserve to know exactly how their tax dollars are being spent, and who is accountable when the results don't show up.
Ed Diehl will push for independent audits of every state agency to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. He will increase transparency so taxpayers can see exactly how their money is being spent.
It's time to restore accountability and rebuild trust. Oregon families deserve a government that is honest about what it spends, transparent about what it accomplishes, and answerable when it fails. Ed Diehl will deliver that kind of leadership.
Ed Diehl believes your rights are not negotiable. Oregon's government should protect your freedoms, not chip away at them. That is a commitment he will carry into the Governor's office from day one.
He supports the Second Amendment and the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families. He supports the right to life. He supports policies that defend individual liberty and limit government overreach.
Oregon has seen too many years of government expanding its reach into the lives of law-abiding citizens while failing to address real threats to public order. Ed Diehl will reverse that trend and restore a government that respects the people it serves.
Oregon is at
a crossroads.
Families are paying more and getting less. Crime is rising. Schools are falling behind. Ed Diehl is running to restore what made this state strong.
